Welcome to First English Lutheran Church (FELC) & Child Development Center (FELCDC)!
This page contains links below to information and updates about the FELC transition ministry.
The FELC transition ministry began formally on January 16, 2023. The transition ministry has two parts: the transition itself and the call process for our next pastor of word and sacrament. This transition is the work of the whole congregation community to God’s glory, and for God’s vision for us in the local community and throughout the world.
The congregation council formed a Transition Team in the summer of 2023. This Transition Team worked with the congregation, the council, the staff, and ministry partners to clarify our vision and tell the story of our life and our hopes for the future. That process has taken purposeful time and care through the late fall of 2023 and spring of 2024. There have been opportunities to gather in large and small group settings for listening and sharing together. The congregation was invited to answers specific questions and give feedback on attributes and leadership values for our next pastor. From this work, a Ministry Site Profile has been created seeking our next called pastor.
On May 20th, the Congregation Council appointed the Transition Team as our Pastoral Call Committee. The Council subsequently approved our Ministry Site Profile in early June. The Call Committee began interviews with potential pastor candidates in July.
As a congregation, FELC prays, discerns, and chooses who our next pastor will be in a called congregation meeting.
Since 1936, FELC strives to be a community of welcome, faith, and community engagement. We seek to be in prayer and listen to God through one another. We strive to form the ministry to which God is calling us in these next stages of our life.

We are not alone. The Holy Spirit holds us.
This prayer of courage is offered in worship and other settings throughout our transition ministry: O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths untrodden, through things unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
